Di Tran Announces Run for Kentucky State Senate

Di Tran formally filed to run for the 37th District Seat of the Kentucky State Senate. His goal is to champion small business ownership and success by working to remove the obstacles that keep people from achieving the American Dream, which he was able to do despite these challenges. In addition, Tran hopes to help diversify Kentucky’s leadership bringing a broader representation to reflect the needs of all people in the Commonwealth.

Duing the last 24 years, Di Tran founded 10 businesses all of which are still in operation. In addition, he has 18 years of experience as a computer programmer at a Fortune 50 company and serves as a faculty member at Sullivan University teaching information technology.

Tran’s family immigrated to the U.S. in March 1995. They came with very little, so he had to work hard. He became a U.S. Citizen in 2000 and went on to earn a B.S. and M.S. in Computer Science and Engineering as well as a Doctorate of Philosophy (ABD) from Sullivan University.

Many people helped Tran along the way and he believes it is important to pay it forward. So, Tran has found ways to help others achieve their full potential. In addition to teaching at Sullivan, he founded the Louisville Beauty Academy, which has graduated and helped over 200 people obtain good-paying jobs without any government support.  Through the years, Tran also mentored 20 individuals to open their own businesses and he continues to teach and mentor many more.

Tran currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Louisville Independent Business Association (LIBA) and is on the South Louisville LIBA Committee. He is an active member of Greater Louisville Inc. and is on LHOME’s Community Advisory Committee representing the South End.

When asked what is motivating to run for office, Tran humbly responds, “It would be an honor for me to help others achieve their dreams so that they too can leave a legacy for the next generation.”
